• 5.0 out of 5 stars from 39.48 -- Unravelling the Divine : On the popular conceptions of “God”, what the divine may or may not actually be, and ideas on access to the same through a subsidiary mental faculty that we all have. You learn that Son of God was a relatively common term for certain people two millennia ago. In some sense that encapsulates what this book is about. The degradation or misunderstanding of both history and metaphor. And how science, psychology could be instrumental in establishing a more viable language and goal. The writing is straightforward and comprehensible with none of the usual creaking quantum physics analogies. The Afterword, noting the use of certain teaching stories, - reclaiming the message of the sands, the elephant, the magic horse, the story of chai, - provides a glimpse of the method or means, and rounds out a very interesting book. I love the explanation of “second sight”, a state that can be developed and experienced in addition to our normal consciousness. But “second sight” is just the beginning.
